June 23, 2026: Toxic Failures: Industrial Disasters, Biohazards & the Collapse of Public Trust SPEAKER: Major Mike Gary, US Army Reserves CBRN officer. For this program, Major Gary draws on his 15+ year experience as a former CBRN/HAZMAT responder and Deputy Commander of the 11th Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team to discuss recent major hazardous incidents including the East Palestine, Ohio train derailment and the Las Vegas biolab investigation. The seminar reviews how emergency responders identify unknown hazards, establish containment procedures, conduct presumptive identification, and coordinate with public health and laboratory systems during chemical and biological incidents. The program also examines what you need to know to discern where response systems have succeeded, where major failures have occurred, how public trust has been damaged, and what lessons we need to learn to improve transparency, environmental safety, and accountability in future emergency operations.
