He didn\u2019t know that it was going to be his last day,&#8221; the boy\u2019s mother, Raven Brown, told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/newjersey.news12.com\/family-seeks-answers-after-12-year-old-son-dies-during-football-practice-in-newark\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">News 12 New Jersey<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elijah played for the Essex County Predators league. Brown said he was at the practice with his 10-year-old brother, who called her to tell her that Elijah was not responding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-layzr=\"https:\/\/media-cldnry.s-nbcnews.com\/image\/upload\/t_fit-760w,f_auto,q_auto:best\/rockcms\/2023-02\/230217-elijah-jordan-brown-garcia-mn-1205-2b3cc5.jpg\" alt=\"Elijah Jordon Brown-Garcia.\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Elijah Jordon Brown-Garcia.Raven Brown<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I said, &#8216;What are they doing? What is anybody doing?&#8217; And he said, &#8216;They are pouring water on him, and they are fanning him.&#8217; And that\u2019s when I got my kids together and I said, &#8216;I\u2019m on my way,'&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown told the news station that CPR was not performed on her son and it took the ambulance a while to get to the field. Elijah was eventually taken to University Hospital in Newark where he died.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A hospital spokesperson said Friday: &#8220;University Hospital extends its deepest condolences to the grieving family of this young person. For privacy reasons, however, UH cannot comment on protected health information regarding our patients, including confirmation of a patient\u2019s identity.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Brown said that her son did not get hit during practice and was a healthy child. It was &#8220;no contact. It was just drills running back and forth,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A cause of death has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Elijah was remembered by his school as a &#8220;kind, outgoing student who was a friend to all.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;Elijah will be deeply missed by our KIPP students, families and educators,&#8221; the school spokesperson said. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Essex County Predators league said: &#8220;Our Hearts are crushed and our condolences scream out to the family of our very own Elijah E2 Brown.
